RANCHI – Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport has escalated its security measures, moving to a higher security category.
This decision was made in a meeting at the Police Headquarters, led by DGP Ajay Singh.
The upgrade from a sensitive to a higher security category reflects growing safety concerns.
The Airport Director’s request during the meeting initiated discussions on multi-level security enhancements.
Proposed measures include robust security at the airport’s perimeter, drop gates for vehicle checks, and advanced number plate recognition systems.
Plans to increase surveillance cameras were also discussed to improve monitoring.
Addressing airport parking and traffic congestion through better traffic management was emphasized.
DGP Ajay Singh is appointed to head a committee for a detailed inspection of the airport’s security system.
This committee comprises members from Ranchi Police, ATS, Special Branch, CISF, and airport authorities.
Key officials like ADG Operations Dr. Sanjay Anand Rao Lathkar, IG Special Branch Prabhat Kumar, and others attended the meeting.
The committee’s internal report will lead to further security enhancements at the airport.
