JAMSHEDPUR – Former Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahay, addressing a press conference of the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee, strongly condemned Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s alleged derogatory remarks about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Sahay termed the comments an affront to the Constitution’s architect and an insult to millions who revere Ambedkar for justice and equality.
Sahay criticized BJP’s actions in Parliament, alleging they diverted attention from Shah’s remarks by lodging a false FIR against opposition leader Rahul Gandhi. He called these actions a deliberate attempt to silence dissent and distract from BJP’s internal failures.
Opposition Demands Accountability
The Congress party has demanded that President Droupadi Murmu take cognizance of the issue and ensure appropriate action against Shah. Sahay reiterated the party’s commitment to Ambedkar’s principles of justice and equality, urging BJP to stop undermining democratic values.
Citing past allegations, Sahay referenced Amit Shah’s purported connection to the murder of Haren Pandya in Gujarat and Odisha MP Sarangi’s controversial past linked to violence against minorities. He emphasized that such incidents reflect poorly on the BJP’s governance and ethical standards.
Upholding Ambedkar’s Legacy
Congress leaders vowed to expose BJP’s alleged misinformation campaigns and reaffirmed their dedication to protecting Ambedkar’s ideals. “We stand united to safeguard democratic principles and social justice,” Sahay declared.
