JAMSHEDPUR – After nearly six weeks, Seraikela police have solved the murder of Javed Akhtar, a land dealer from Chandrapur.
Authorities arrested Abdul Qudus, the alleged mastermind, and shooter Mohammad Irfan. Both were remanded to judicial custody on Saturday. Police recovered the pistol used in the crime and ₹5,000 from the advance payment for the contract killing.
Circle Inspector Vinod Murmu stated that a team, led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, was formed to investigate the case. Utilizing technical and human intelligence, the team uncovered the conspiracy. Both suspects confessed to their involvement.
Station in-charge Satish Varnwal revealed that Abdul Qudus had offered ₹200,000 for the murder due to a land dispute, providing ₹30,000 as an advance. The investigation confirmed these details.
On October 24, Javed Akhtar was shot dead at his home in Chandrapur. The police faced significant pressure to solve the case and had interrogated multiple individuals. With these arrests, the mystery surrounding Akhtar’s murder has been resolved.
