JAMSHEDPUR – A severe cold wave swept through Jharkhand on Thursday, with Jamshedpur recording a minimum temperature of 9.6°C as winter made its presence felt across the state.
The Steel City witnessed one of its coldest days this season. The sudden temperature drop caught many residents off guard.
“This early intensity of cold is quite unusual for December,” remarked a local meteorologist.
Impact Across Districts
Daltonganj emerged as the coldest spot in Jharkhand. The city recorded a bone-chilling 7.9°C.
Meanwhile, Bokaro registered 8.1°C on the thermometer. Several other districts reported similar cold conditions.
“The absence of cloud cover has contributed to the sharp drop in night temperatures,” explained a weather expert.
Weather Forecast
The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has issued an advisory. Cold wave conditions may persist in isolated areas.
Moreover, the north-westerly winds are expected to continue. This could lead to further temperature drops.
“Residents should take necessary precautions against the cold,” suggested a Met official.
