Jeweler Loses Gold Worth Rs 9 Lakhs, Faces Threat of Legal Hassles too
A goldsmith flees with gold worth Rs 9 lakhs from a jewellery shop in Sakchi, while his family threatens the victim with a suicide case. The victim approaches the Sakchi police for help in recovering the stolen gold.
Jamshedpur – In a shocking incident, a goldsmith who worked as an ornament-maker at a jewellery shop in Sakchi has absconded with gold worth Rs 9 lakhs.
To make matters worse, when the jeweller approached the goldsmith’s family in search of him, the family members resorted to threats, indicating a potential suicide case against the victim.
The victim, Pramod Kumar Bera, a hapless jeweller who runs a small jewellery shop at Handi Line in Sakchi market, used to create gold ornaments for larger jewellery shops by borrowing gold from his clients.
Bera would receive a payment of Rs 5,000 for every 100 grams of ornaments he manufactured for these bigger establishments.
He employed a staff member to assist him in carrying out the work.
According to the victim, the staff member had taken 194 grams of gold on Saturday to create ornaments but had not returned to the shop since then.
Despite numerous attempts to contact the staff member via phone, the victim’s efforts were in vain.
In desperation, the victim decided to visit his residence in Jugsalai, where he was met with a chilling response from the family members.
They ordered him to leave and even threatened to implicate him in a suicide case if he made any further attempts to contact Dinesh.
Left with no other recourse, the victim approached the Sakchi police to seek assistance in recovering the 194 grams of gold, valued at Rs 9 lakhs.
Sanjay Kumar Singh, Officer-in-Charge of Sakchi Police Station, confirmed his awareness of the matter.
However, he stated that he is yet to receive a formal complaint regarding the incident.
