Rain in Ranchi Brings Drop in Temperature and Increased Cold

Rainfall Across Jharkhand to Be Followed by Intense Cold After December 15

Key Points:

  • Rain begins in Ranchi and other parts of Jharkhand on December 9.
  • Temperature to drop by 2-4 degrees, dense fog likely on December 10.
  • Cold wave to intensify after December 15, says weather department.

RANCHI – Several areas of Jharkhand, including the capital Ranchi, experienced rainfall starting early December 9 due to cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal. This has led to a significant change in weather patterns, with colder days ahead.

According to the Meteorological Department, light rain was reported in many regions, while districts like Palamu, Garhwa, Koderma, and Lohardaga are likely to remain dry. Cloud cover is expected to persist across the state until December 10, causing a further dip in temperatures.

Temperature Drop and Fog

The maximum temperature may decrease by 2-3 degrees, while the minimum could fall by 2-4 degrees. Dense fog and mist are also anticipated during the morning hours. The weather department has forecast that the cold will become more noticeable after the rain subsides.

Increased Chill After December 15

The weather is expected to clear from December 11, which will trigger a rapid drop in temperatures. Starting December 15, a significant cold wave is likely to grip the region, intensifying the chill. Residents may experience discomfort due to the freezing conditions, especially during early mornings and late evenings.
