District Administration Plans Major Overhaul to Ease Jamshedpur Traffic

Revised no-entry timings and removal of roadside vendors proposed

Key Points:

  • No-entry timing for heavy vehicles to be revised for 11 AM–1 PM restriction.

  • Roadside vendors in Mango to face removal for smoother traffic.

  • Increased deployment of traffic personnel from morning hours planned.

JAMSHEDPUR – The district administration has begun implementing measures to address Jamshedpur’s traffic woes, focusing on changes to no-entry timings and clearing encroachments in Mango.

No-Entry Timing Revision Underway

The administration is considering restricting the entry of heavy vehicles into the city during critical hours. As per the current plan, vehicles will be barred from entering between 11 AM and 1 PM. Additional Deputy Magistrate (Law and Order) Aniket Sachan has asked Traffic DSPs to prepare a report suggesting practical no-entry schedules based on traffic flow.

At present, the no-entry timings allow heavy vehicle access from 11 AM to 1 PM, 2 PM to 4 PM, and 11 PM to 6 AM. Once the report is finalized, adjustments will be made to these timings to reduce congestion.

Clearing Mango’s Roads of Vendors

The administration has directed a joint operation to remove roadside vendors in Mango. ADM Sachan has instructed the Deputy Municipal Commissioner of Mango Municipal Corporation, Traffic DSP, and area traffic officers to lead this initiative. These vendors often occupy pavements and cause obstructions, contributing to traffic jams.

Enhanced Traffic Management

In addition to these steps, more traffic personnel will be deployed in Mango in the coming days. Plans are underway to station traffic officers from the early hours of the morning to prevent jams during peak times. This strategy is expected to significantly improve the traffic situation in the busy area.

Experts suggest that further measures, such as using traffic management technologies and optimizing road infrastructure, could complement these steps. Jamshedpur’s growing traffic burden requires coordinated efforts from various departments to ensure long-term solutions.
