JAMSHEDPUR – Police have dismantled a major LPG theft operation targeting gas tankers on National Highway 33.

The raid occurred in Belajhuri on November 29. The location served as the gang’s base.

Moreover, the criminals targeted tankers traveling from Haldia. These vehicles were bound for Bokaro and Seraikela.

The police seized substantial evidence during the operation. This included specialized gas-filling equipment.

Furthermore, three pickup vans were recovered. The gang used these for distribution.

"This operation has disrupted a significant criminal network," stated a senior police official.

Meanwhile, the arrested individuals revealed their modus operandi. They charged between Rs 700-1000 per cylinder.

Additionally, the gang operated across multiple districts. They had established connections with local businesses.

On the other hand, three key suspects remain at large. Police have identified them as local traders.

Besides, this raid follows recent LPG theft cases nationwide. Similar operations have been reported in neighboring states.

The gang’s activities posed serious safety risks. Illegal LPG handling often leads to accidents.

"This crime affects both public safety and economy," remarked a gas industry expert.

Furthermore, authorities are investigating broader connections. The operation may have links to other criminal networks.
