  • Bengal Chief Secretary assures a committee to resolve the matter.

  • Potato prices soar in Jharkhand due to supply chain disruptions.

RANCHI – Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has taken note of reports about potato-laden vehicles being stopped at the Bengal border. He instructed Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari to expedite the resolution of the matter.

Steps Taken by Jharkhand

Following the CM’s directive, Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari reached out to her West Bengal counterpart, Manoj Pant, to resolve the issue. Pant assured that a committee would be formed to address the concerns and ensure smooth potato supply.

The intervention comes as potato prices in Jharkhand have spiked due to a disrupted supply chain from West Bengal, a key supplier. Dealers have reported difficulties in procuring adequate stock to meet demand.

Supply Chain Impact

Potato shortages have affected market dynamics, leading to price inflation across Jharkhand. Traders blame the interruptions in West Bengal’s supply chain for the crisis. Officials hope for swift action from the Bengal administration to stabilize the market.

Resolution Assurances

According to reports, the Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Pant promised prompt action, stating that the proposed committee would oversee the restoration of potato transportation. This move is expected to alleviate the supply-demand mismatch in Jharkhand.
