Protests in Jamshedpur on Farmers’ Movement Anniversary

JAMSHEDPUR – On the fourth anniversary of the farmers’ movement, central trade unions and the Samyukta Kisan Morcha staged a protest at Sakchi roundabout. The demonstration opposed central government policies, particularly labor reforms and privatization initiatives.

Leaders from INTUC, AITUC, and other unions called for the repeal of the four labor codes and the restoration of worker-friendly laws. They also demanded an end to the privatization of public sector enterprises and industrialization of agriculture.

Protesters criticized alleged attempts to alter the Constitution, emphasizing its significance on Constitution Day, also observed on November 26. They expressed concern over increasing unemployment and exploitation, citing extended work hours for laborers.

A participant remarked, "Farmers and workers are being exploited through policy changes, but we will persist until our rights are restored." The protest underscored the solidarity between workers and farmers in their ongoing struggle for justice.
