JAMSHEDPUR – In a shocking incident in Sidgora’s Cross Road No. 18, con artists swindled Mausami Munda, wife of Sunatan Munda, of jewelry, credit cards, and documents worth ₹2 lakh on Monday morning.
According to the police complaint, two men approached Mausami at her home, pretending to be connected to her husband’s employer. They falsely claimed that her husband was involved in a theft case and warned that police would soon arrive to search their house. In a state of panic, Mausami was persuaded to hand over valuables, including her gold jewelry, credit card, and identity documents, to avoid police confiscation. The men fled immediately with the items in a bag.
When Mausami later contacted her husband, Sunatan Munda, he confirmed the claims were fabricated. He rushed home and filed a complaint at Sidhgora Police Station. "They exploited her panic and left with everything," Sunatan said while recounting the ordeal.

Police revealed this method resembles a past incident in Telco, where a Tata Cummins employee’s wife was similarly deceived. Con artists even took the couple’s child temporarily to gain trust, only to abandon the child later before fleeing.
Authorities suspect an organized gang behind these incidents. Investigators are examining CCTV footage and other evidence. Residents have been urged to stay cautious and verify any claims involving police or company officials before taking action.
