CHAIBASA – The Jagannathpur Assembly constituency in Jharkhand has reaffirmed its traditional loyalty to the Indian National Congress as Sona Ram Sinku is about to emerge victorious in the latest electoral battle. At the time of writing this report, he secured a decisive edge over BJP candidate Geeta Kora by a margin of 7,383 votes.
Sona Ram Sinku garnered a total of 57,065 votes till the filing of this report, while Geeta Kora managed 49,682 votes. Despite her reputation and prior strong performances, Geeta Kora could not break the Congress stronghold. The results also highlighted the notable presence of independent candidates and NOTA (None of the Above), indicating voter diversity in the region.
Independent candidate Mangal Singh Bobonga received 12,559 votes, standing as the third-highest scorer. Other candidates like Mansingh Tiriya (6,316 votes), Lakshmi Narayan Laguri (3,900 votes), and Laxmi Narayan Gagrai (2,342 votes) showed modest performances. The NOTA option was chosen by 5,183 voters, reflecting a noteworthy level of discontent among the electorate.
