JAMSHEDPUR – A group of three elephants, including a baby, strayed into Potka from nearby forests, causing widespread panic among villagers.
The elephants, having separated from a larger herd, were first spotted near the Dholaidih-Gittilata, Balidih, and Changra forests along the Potka block’s border.
Villagers have been on high alert as the herd has settled in the area.
Forest department teams and local authorities were on edge throughout the night, struggling to manage the situation and ensure the safety of the residents.
In response to the danger, a Quick Response Team (QRT) was dispatched from Chakulia to drive the elephants away and protect people and property.
It is reported that the elephants wandered into Potka after getting lost in the forests of Chakulia and Dhalbhumgarh, passing through Musabani and reaching villages such as Pandudih, Sohda, and Dhirol.
The presence of the elephants has created an atmosphere of fear, and efforts are ongoing to guide the animals back into the wild.
