JAMSHEDPUR – In a thrilling electoral battle in Potka constituency, Sanjib Sardar of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has pulled off a dramatic turnaround during the final phases of vote counting.
Initially, BJP’s Meera Munda appeared set to win, maintaining a lead over Sardar in the earlier rounds. However, the 11th round brought a decisive change, with Sardar gaining substantial votes to eventually secure 1,08,890, surpassing Munda’s 89,660 by 19,230 votes.
Other contenders included Bhagairathi Hansda from the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha, who polled 5,510 votes, and independent candidates Subodh Singh Sardar (2,172) and Sunita Murmu (1,921). The NOTA option received 1,846 votes, reflecting voter dissatisfaction with the available choices.
