Jharkhand Assembly Election 2024: JMM Emerges as the Top Performer
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress, and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) alliance has achieved a significant victory in the 2024 Jharkhand Assembly elections. JMM secured 34 seats, BJP won 21, Congress obtained 16, RJD garnered 4, CPI(ML) won 2, while LJP, JLKM, and JD(U) each secured one seat.

JAMSHEDPUR – The JMM-Congress-RJD alliance has emerged victorious in the Jharkhand Assembly elections, securing a majority with JMM leading at 34 seats.
In the recent Jharkhand Assembly elections, the JMM-Congress-RJD alliance achieved a majority, with JMM winning 34 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 21 seats, while Congress and RJD obtained 16 and 4 seats respectively. The Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) (CPI(ML)) won two seats, and the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), Jharkhand Loktantrik Kranti Morcha (JLKM), and Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) each secured one seat.
Notably, JLKM’s Jayram Mahato clinched victory in Dumri. JD(U) contested from Tamar and Jamshedpur West, with Saryu Roy winning in Jamshedpur West, while Raja Peter faced defeat in Tamar. LJP’s Janardan Paswan won the Chatra seat. CPI(ML) candidates Arup Chatterjee and Chandradev Mahato emerged victorious in Nirsa and Sindri respectively.
In Bermo, Anoop Singh, son of late INTUC leader Rajendra Singh, secured a win for Congress. Chief Minister Hemant Soren retained his Barhait seat, and Kalpana Soren was re-elected from Gandey. In Jamtara, Irfan Ansari won again, defeating Sita Soren. Alamgir Alam’s wife, Nisat Alam, maintained the family’s hold in Pakur by winning the seat. Congress’s Deepika Pandey Singh, who has ties to Jamshedpur, retained the Mahagama seat. Basant Soren, brother of Hemant Soren, won again in Dumka.
In Chandan Kiyari, JMM’s Umakant Rajak defeated Amar Kumar Bauri, who finished third. AJSU Party chief Sudesh Mahato faced defeat in Silli, where JMM’s Amit Mahato secured victory.
