JAMSHEDPUR – Football legend Sol Campbell, celebrated for his illustrious career in the Premier League, has been announced as the International Event Ambassador for the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata (TSW 25K) 2024.

Known for its status as the world’s first World Athletics Gold Label 25K event, TSW 25K continues to attract global icons, adding Campbell to its growing list of ambassadors.

In his statement, Campbell expressed his excitement about visiting Kolkata, known as the “City of Joy.”

“Coming to the City of Joy would be a huge pleasure,” Campbell said.

“As an Englishman, I know India through cricket, but I have heard that this city is known for its sport-loving people. I am excited to be in Kolkata, a sporting city and part of the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata, a race that has united the community and works towards a healthy and active life.”

A Football Legend’s Journey

Sol Campbell’s career is an inspiring tale of resilience, leadership, and achievement.

Emerging from Tottenham Hotspur’s youth academy, he quickly gained prominence as one of England’s most formidable defenders.

His bold move to Arsenal in 2001 became one of the most discussed transfers in Premier League history.

At Arsenal, Campbell was an integral part of the legendary "Invincibles" squad during the 2003-04 season, achieving an undefeated league record, a feat rarely matched in football history.

Event Details

The ninth edition of the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata is scheduled for December 15, 2024.

The event includes races such as the 25K, 10K, Ananda Run (4.5 km), Senior Citizen’s Run (2.3 km), and Champions with Disability Run (2.3 km).
