JAMSHEDPUR – Pratham Swar, a Jamshedpur-based classical music organization, will host its second annual Classical Music Conference on December 7, 2024, at Swami Vedananda Cultural Hall, Bharat Sevashram Sangha.
The free event, starting at 5:30 pm, will feature performances by local talents and prominent musicians from Kolkata. Founded by classical vocalist Devarghya Roy and tabla player Kartick Karmakar, Pratham Swar aims to bring classical music to the younger generation.
The evening’s lineup includes a range of classical music presentations:

Group Presentation – Led by Birendra Upadhyay of Jamshedpur, with performances by his disciples.

Sarod Recital – Subhabrata Chatterjee from Kolkata, accompanied on tabla by Sangram Roy.

Vocal Presentation – Ayan Roychoudhury from Kolkata with harmonium by Sanjay Biswas and tabla by Swarup Moitra from Jamshedpur.

Sitar-Flute Duet – Subhash Bose (sitar) and Ashok Singh (flute), accompanied by Amitava Sen on tabla, all from Jamshedpur.
“Bringing classical music to young audiences is essential,” said Devarghya Roy, highlighting the organization’s goal of nurturing traditional music appreciation in Jamshedpur.
