Frequent Delays in Chakradharpur Division Frustrate Rail Passengers
Persistent train delays disrupt services in the Chakradharpur division
Key Points:
– Frequent delays in Chakradharpur impact Vande Bharat Express trains
– Passengers report hours-long delays between Chaibasa and Tatanagar
– Calls for immediate action from South Eastern Railway officials
JAMSHEDPUR – Persistent delays in the Chakradharpur railway division have led to rising frustration among passengers, with several Vande Bharat Express trains arriving hours behind schedule.
The delays have disrupted travel on multiple key routes, impacting thousands of daily commuters.
One notable incident involved the 20892 Brahmapur-Tatanagar Vande Bharat Express, which was delayed by nearly three and a half hours on its route, covering only 62 kilometers in that time between Chaibasa and Tatanagar.
Widespread Delays Across Routes
Reports indicate that the problem is widespread, affecting various routes across the Chakradharpur division.
On November 4, Train No. 21896 Patna-Tatanagar Vande Bharat Express was scheduled to arrive at Tatanagar Junction at 23:55 but reached almost an hour late.

Passengers expressed frustration as the train took over 1.5 hours to cover the 35 kilometers from Chandil to Tatanagar, a journey that typically takes far less time.
In addition, the Rourkela-Howrah Vande Bharat Express has faced similar delays, with passengers reporting frequent stops and prolonged waiting times.
Concerns Over Freight Priority
These delays are reportedly due to a prioritization of freight movement along high-traffic routes like Adityapur to Tatanagar.
Local rail users have raised concerns that passenger trains are frequently forced to halt in favor of industrial freight trains.
In particular, delays have become routine near the Jugsalai Overbridge, where trains are reportedly held up for up to 30 minutes.
This issue is compounded by inconsistent information on the NTES app, which has sometimes shown arrival times that do not align with actual delays.
Calls for Action from Rail Authorities
The situation has led many passengers and local commuter groups to call for immediate action from South Eastern Railway officials.
A representative from the Jharkhand Rail Users group stated, “These delays are disrupting daily schedules and causing considerable inconvenience. We urge railway authorities to address these issues to ensure reliable and timely service.”

As delays continue to impact thousands of passengers each day, rail users across the division await a response from South Eastern Railway officials.
The rising concern among commuters highlights the need for timely solutions to restore schedule regularity in the Chakradharpur division.
