JAMSHEDPUR – Unauthorized markets in Sakchi are disrupting Durga Puja immersion processions.
For the past 49 years, the Shri Shri Bal Mandir Committee in Sakchi has organized the Durga Puja and Ram Navami festivals.
However, in recent years, illegal shops have been set up along the immersion route, causing difficulties during the Vijayadashami immersion.
Suman Agarwal, secretary of the committee, highlighted that this issue has been ongoing for four to five years.
He mentioned that despite informing the district administration every year, no action has been taken against the illegal markets.
The immersion route is decided in coordination with the administration, and a license is issued based on this agreement.
Yet, unauthorized vendors begin setting up stalls as early as Navami night, blocking the path.
Agarwal questioned who was behind these markets and demanded action against those responsible.
He also appealed for steps to prevent footpath encroachments on Vijayadashami, ensuring a peaceful immersion procession.
The committee urged the district authorities to ensure that Durga Puja festivities and the immersion proceed smoothly without interference.
