JAMSHEDPUR – Local authorities are investigating the suspicious death of an elderly homeopathy doctor discovered in her New Baradwari apartment.
Dr. Sharmila Sanyal, 75, was found lifeless in her flat at Avishkar Apartment.
The body was located between the bed and wall.
Blood was scattered throughout the room.
Neighbors alerted police after noticing a foul odor emanating from the premises.
Dr. Sanyal, an unmarried woman, lived alone in the apartment.
Authorities gained entry through the balcony, as the main door was locked from inside.
Several 500-rupee notes, a box, and a wristwatch were found on the bed.
The wardrobe and locker were open upon inspection.
Residents reported that Dr. Sanyal rarely left her apartment due to her advanced age.
Moreover, the deceased owned the land on which the building stands.
In exchange, she received two flats from the contractor.
Meanwhile, police are searching for a person of interest named R.K. Singh.
Records show Singh visited the apartment on October 1st and September 19th.
However, the mobile number provided in the visitor’s register was incorrect.
Additionally, security footage is being examined for potential leads.
A middle-aged man was known to frequent Dr. Sanyal’s residence.
Furthermore, authorities are awaiting the arrival of the victim’s relatives.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
On the other hand, Vinay Mandal, the officer-in-charge of Sitaramdera police station, stated that the investigation is ongoing.
