JAMSHEDPUR – A new program aims to create a network of student mental health ambassadors across college campuses in the city.
Young Indians (YI) Jamshedpur collaborated with Jeevan, a suicide prevention center, for this initiative.
Moreover, the training took place at the Center for Excellence on Saturday.
The program focused on equipping students with crucial mental health support skills.
Furthermore, participants learned to recognize signs of mental distress and practice active listening.
Mental health expert Gurpreet Kaur Bhatia led the interactive workshop.
Meanwhile, students from XITE, Netaji Subhash University, and Mrs. KMPM Vocational College attended.
"This program is a step towards creating a more empathetic campus environment," a YI member stated.
In addition, the initiative aims to reduce stigma around mental health issues among youth.
The training emphasized guiding peers towards professional mental health resources when needed.
However, the program’s success will depend on continued support and engagement from students.
On the other hand, organizers hope to expand the network of mental health ambassadors over time.
The initiative marks a significant effort to improve overall student well-being and academic success.
