Governor calls for mass movement to combat malnutrition in India

RANCHI – The 7th National Nutrition Month 2024 wrapped up with a call to action against malnutrition in India.

Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar emphasized the need for a nationwide effort.

Moreover, he stressed the importance of proper nutrition for women and children.

The event saw the virtual inauguration of over 11,000 empowered Anganwadi centers.

Furthermore, Union Minister Annapurna Devi highlighted the planting of 8.6 million saplings.

The "One Tree for Mother" initiative aims to contribute to environmental conservation.

Meanwhile, officials participated in Annaprashan and Godh Bharai ceremonies for expectant mothers.

"Empowered Anganwadi centers will lay the foundation for children’s brighter futures," Devi stated.

In addition, a motivational film titled "Aao Toden: Poshan Chakra" was screened during the event.

The film showcased Jharkhand’s approach to improving nutritional status across various groups.

However, the Governor emphasized that awareness alone is not enough to combat malnutrition.

On the other hand, he praised Anganwadi workers for their crucial role in the nutrition campaign.

The ceremony concluded with an online interaction with Anganwadi workers from Bihar and Chhattisgarh.
