Elderly Couple from Odisha Hospitalized After Hit-and-Run
A speeding truck struck two pedestrians near Galudih Mahulia Chowk, leaving them seriously injured.
JAMSHEDPUR – A hit-and-run incident near Galudih Mahulia Chowk on Monday night has left two elderly individuals from Odisha critically injured.
The victims, an elderly man and woman, were crossing the road when a speeding truck struck them with considerable force.
Emergency services quickly transported the injured to the Ghatshila Sub-divisional Hospital using an ambulance from the Putru Toll Plaza.
Eyewitnesses report that the couple was riding a TVS XL Super motorcycle with the registration number JH 05 CE 7753 when the accident occurred.
"The truck came from the Ghatshila direction and hit them as they were crossing the divider," a local resident stated.
The incident drew a large crowd of onlookers, prompting Galudih police to arrive at the scene.
In a swift response, a police van pursued and apprehended a pickup truck (JH 05 CZ 0326) near Salbani, with driver Ramkrishna Yadav at the wheel.
However, Yadav denies involvement in the accident, and police are currently interrogating him.
The case has raised concerns about road safety and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules in the area.
Authorities are urging any witnesses to come forward with information to assist in the ongoing investigation.
