Young Indians Parliament Prepares Youth for Leadership Roles
Jamshedpur Youth Set to Participate in Parliamentary Simulation Event
Explore how Jamshedpur students are engaging in the Young Indians Parliament, a unique initiative designed to educate young minds on parliamentary procedures while sharpening their public speaking and critical thinking skills.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Young Indians Parliament (YIP), an initiative aimed at educating school students on the intricacies of parliamentary operations, has recently been launched.
The program is targeted at students from the 9th to the 12th grade, offering them a platform to discuss and debate on critical issues, replicating real parliamentary sessions.
The event will be conducted in two phases: regional and national. The regional qualifiers are scheduled for August in Raipur and Kolkata, drawing participation from over 250 students from nine cities in Eastern India.
Finalists from these qualifiers will advance to the national finals, set to occur in New Delhi come November 2024.
Schools interested in enrolling must register by the 15th of May through the designated website, yischoolhub.org. Although there is no fee to register initially, progressing students will incur a small fee to cover various materials and meals during the regional competitions.
Each student must prepare a Campaign Pitch to compete in the preliminary round, focusing on topics like Environmental Sustainability, Mental Health, and Gender Equality, among others. Standout pitches will secure places in the regional round.
Already, more than 20 schools in Jamshedpur have committed to the event, including notable institutions such as Loyola School and DAV Public School.
