JAMSHEDPUR – A contentious UP-Bihar Pride Rally took place in the Steel City on Sunday, drawing participants from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar amid local opposition.
The rally’s organizer, Sagar Tiwari, expressed disappointment over BJP leader Manish Kashyap’s absence.
"Authorities in Ranchi prevented Kashyap from attending, citing security concerns," Tiwari stated.
Moreover, he emphasized the rally’s purpose of recognizing UP and Bihar residents in Jharkhand.
"Our aim is to challenge the unfair comparison of UP and Bihar people to Bangladeshi infiltrators," Tiwari explained.
Furthermore, he asserted that those residing in Jharkhand before November 15, 2000, should be considered Jharkhandis.
"However, local politicians are denying domicile status to these long-term residents," Tiwari added.
The organizer vowed to continue their struggle for recognition and domicile status.
Meanwhile, the Jharkhand Bhasha Khatiyan Sangharsh Samiti, now known as Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha, had opposed the event.
Nevertheless, the rally proceeded from Baridih Chowk to Agrico Chowk.
In addition, the absence of BJP leader Kashyap raised questions about political support for the rally.
