JAMSHEDPUR – A tragic road accident near Amjhor village in Bodam police station area resulted in the death of a young man and injuries to two others on Thursday night.

The incident occurred on the main Bodam-Raghunathpur road when a pickup van collided with a motorcycle.

The van, returning from Madaidih in West Bengal, was carrying laborers from a foundry party in Jamshedpur.

Due to a faulty headlight, the van driver was operating with only the left light functioning.

Suddenly, an oncoming motorcycle crashed into the van, causing severe head injuries to one of the riders.

In the aftermath, the pickup van driver attempted to flee the scene.

Local residents promptly alerted the Bodam police about the incident.

Subsequently, the police intercepted and seized the van near Laldih village, approximately 5 km away.

While the driver managed to escape, the police detained one occupant of the van for questioning.

The deceased has been identified as Manoranjan Singh, 21, from Samanpur Tola Chirugoda in Nimdih police station area of Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

The two injured youths, Prabhat Pramanik and Monu Singh, also hail from Chirugoda.

Reportedly, the three young men had traveled to Salbani village in West Bengal to witness a buffalo and bull fighting event.

They were returning home after the fair when the accident occurred.

Tragically, Manoranjan’s companions fled the scene, leaving him in critical condition.

However, they later informed others about the incident.

The police have registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, authorities are intensifying efforts to apprehend the absconding van driver.

This incident highlights the urgent need for improved road safety measures in the area.
