Bagbera Naya Basti Faces Severe Flooding After Heavy Rains
Rising River Levels Threaten More Homes as Administration Criticized
Key Points:
• Three days of continuous rain causes flooding in Bagbera Naya Basti
• 30-35 houses affected; up to 100 homes at risk by evening
• BJP leader criticizes administration for inaction on drainage issues
JAMSHEDPUR – Continuous rainfall has led to severe flooding in a local neighborhood, with fears of worsening conditions as river levels continue to rise.
Bagbera Naya Basti has been grappling with overflowing rivers for the past three days.
The situation has been exacerbated by inadequate drainage systems in the area.
Moreover, illegal construction on government land has contributed to the flooding problem.
As a result, water has already entered 30 to 35 houses in the lower-lying areas.
The absence of proper drainage infrastructure has complicated efforts to mitigate the flooding.
Furthermore, a non-functional sluice gate has left water pumping as the only option for relief.
However, no pumping system is currently in place to address the rising water levels.
Consequently, the area faces the risk of more extensive flooding in the coming hours.
With ongoing rain and swelling rivers, concerns are mounting rapidly.
It is feared that up to 100 houses could be affected by evening if the situation persists.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Subodh Jha has voiced strong criticism against the district administration.
He specifically called out their failure to address this long-standing issue in the area.
A local resident commented, "We’ve been facing this problem for years, but no concrete action has been taken."
