JAMSHEDPUR – A liquor shop in Adityapur, Saraikela-Kharsawan district, was sealed on Tuesday after Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) youth wing members caught a salesman adulterating liquor before opening hours.

The incident took place at a liquor shop near Imli Chowk, where the JMM youth wing members locked the shop after catching the salesman in the act.

JMM district president Bhoglu Soren, also known as Dabba Soren, informed senior officials of the excise department and the SDO about the incident.

Excise department officers and the SDO arrived at the scene, initiating an investigation into the matter.

Soren stated that there had been ongoing complaints about overcharging and adulteration in the district’s liquor shops, prompting the raid.

However, Neeraj Kumar, the excise inspector leading the investigation, mentioned that sufficient evidence had not yet been found, and the inquiry is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, the SDO has also started an in-depth probe.

Locals, though, expressed skepticism, suggesting that the investigation might be just a formality.
