JAMSHEDPUR – A tragic incident in Latehar district claims the lives of three young children who drowned in a pit excavated by the railway near Tori-Shivpur line.

The unfortunate event occurred in Nagra village, Balumath block of Latehar district. Three children, playing near a pit dug by the railway alongside the Tori-Shivpur line, accidentally fell in and drowned.

The victims were identified as Rishu Kumar (6), son of Rajesh Yadav; Suraj Kumar (6), son of Charku Pahan; and Golu Kumar (7), son of Krishnakant Ganju. All three were residents of Nagra village in Balumath.

Local residents and Balumath police collaborated to retrieve the bodies from the pit. The children were immediately rushed to Balumath Government Hospital for medical attention.

At the hospital, Dr. Surendra Kumar examined the children and declared them deceased. The tragic news has left the families devastated, with relatives inconsolable over the loss.

In response to this heartbreaking incident, villagers have approached the railway department. They are demanding employment opportunities and compensation for the affected families.

The community is grappling with shock and grief as they come to terms with the untimely loss of these young lives. Questions are being raised about safety measures around railway excavation sites.

Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances leading to this tragedy. The incident highlights the need for enhanced safety protocols in areas where construction or maintenance work is carried out near residential zones.
