Jamshedpur Karatekas Dominate South Asian Championship
Indian Team Secures Multiple Medals in Prestigious Kathmandu Tournament

JAMSHEDPUR – Elite karatekas from the city showcase their prowess, clinching numerous accolades at a major regional tournament.
The All India Goju Ryu Karate Do Federation’s top athletes have left an indelible mark on the South Asian martial arts scene.
A dozen skilled practitioners from Jamshedpur participated in the South Asian Open International Karate Championship, held from August 28 to 30, 2024, at Kathmandu’s Dashrath Indoor Stadium.
The event, sanctioned by prestigious organizations, saw fierce competition under the watchful eyes of international officials.
"The level of talent displayed by our karatekas was truly exceptional," remarked Sensei Niraj Kumar, the Indian team’s mentor, who received recognition for his guidance.
Kumar added, "Their dedication and rigorous training have paid off, positioning Jamshedpur as a powerhouse in the martial arts community."
The championship, organized by Nepal’s leading karate associations, featured top-tier referees ensuring fair play throughout the tournament.
Sri Tanka Lal Ghising, a prominent figure in Nepal’s sports administration, inaugurated the event, underscoring its significance in the region.
