Jamshedpur MLA Demands Health Minister’s Removal Over MGM Crisis

Roy cites overcrowding, water shortage at MGM Hospital; urges CM to take action

MLA Saryu Roy calls for Health Minister’s dismissal due to deteriorating conditions at MGM Hospital in Jamshedpur.

JAMSHEDPUR – Saryu Roy, Jamshedpur East MLA, demands Health Minister’s removal over worsening conditions at MGM Hospital.

Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy has publicly called for the dismissal of the Health Minister, citing the deteriorating conditions at MGM Hospital.

During a recent inspection of ongoing development projects, Roy expressed grave concerns over the hospital’s worsening state.

He accused the Health Minister of prioritizing personal interests over public health, urging the Chief Minister to remove him from office.

The MLA highlighted severe overcrowding at the hospital, with 80 patients occupying a 50-bed emergency department.

"The situation at MGM Hospital has become untenable," stated a hospital staff member who wished to remain anonymous. "We’re struggling to provide adequate care with our limited resources."

Roy criticized the minister for allowing a representative to run a parallel office at the hospital, contributing to its decline.

He also pointed out that a new 500-bed hospital building remains non-operational due to inadequate water supply arrangements.

Infrastructure Development

Despite the healthcare crisis, Roy reported progress on other fronts in Jamshedpur.

He announced that the water treatment plant in Oxygen Colony, Bhuiyandih, is ready and will begin supplying water to households by September’s end.

Pipe-laying work is set to start in Babudih and Lal Bhatta, with water supply expected to reach Jojobera homes this month.

Roy also noted that road construction work is progressing ahead of the Litti Chowk bridge project.

Proposed Solutions

To address the hospital’s water shortage, Roy proposed bringing water from Chandil Dam through Dimna Lake.

He had previously raised this issue in the last monsoon session of the Assembly but claims it was met with silence from the Health Minister.

"The Health Minister’s failure to address basic operational issues like water supply has exacerbated the burden on the old MGM hospital," Roy emphasized.

The MLA reiterated his demand for immediate action from the Chief Minister, insisting that the current Health Minister has failed to act in the public’s interest.
