AI’s Role in HR Systems Set to Expand, Say Industry Experts at XLRI CHRO Conclave

The CHRO Conclave Kronos 4.0 concluded at XLRI, focusing on best practices in HR across global industries.

JAMSHEDPUR – The CHRO Conclave Kronos 4.0 at XLRI wrapped up with discussions on the future challenges and the increasing role of AI in HR systems.

This year’s theme, "HR for the Modern Leader: Bridging the Gap Between HR and Non-HR Functions," brought together industry leaders who shared their experiences.

The consensus among the speakers was that HR roles are becoming more challenging, with AI playing a significant part in the future.

Professor Dr. Sanjay Patro, Dean of Academics at XLRI, welcomed the speakers and highlighted XLRI’s initiatives in driving positive changes in the HR sector.

He, along with Associate Dean Dr. P.C. Pradhan, inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

Dr. Patro also praised the committee members for their efforts in organizing the conclave.

The first panel discussion focused on "Campus Hiring Versus Market Hiring: Strategic Differences and Benefits."

Suraj Chhetri, HR Head at Airbus India, emphasized the advantages of campus hiring, noting that "when hiring from campuses, you already have an understanding of the candidate before they start working."

Shruti Srivastava Pawar, Senior VP HR at CT, highlighted HR’s crucial role in maintaining company culture, while Himanshu Mishra from Access Asset Management pointed out the eagerness to learn among campus hires compared to market hires.

Binny Dawson of Expert Trading Group stressed the importance of practical knowledge in today’s market-driven hiring.

Misaal from KPMG India discussed the focus on qualifications and skills in hiring, saying, "We concentrate 70% on qualifications and 30% on skills during the hiring process."

On the second day, the panel discussion centered on data-driven HR systems.

Speakers included Dilip Sinha, CHRO at Vedanta, Renu Jethani, HR Head at Sutherland Global, Dr. Chandrashekhar P. Deshmukh, CHRO at Kokuyo Camlin Limited, Abhijat Mitra, CHRO at Tejas Network, and Dipu Bhattacharya, CHRO at Unity Bank, who all shared insights on the growing influence of data in HR.
