Jamshedpur District Administration Prepares for Smooth Durga Puja Celebrations

Jamshedpur administration and Durga Puja committees focus on resolving issues ahead of the festival, ensuring a seamless experience for devotees.

Efforts are underway in Jamshedpur to address potential challenges and ensure that Durga Puja is celebrated without any disruptions this year.

JAMSHEDPUR – Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal emphasized the need for the district administration and Durga Puja committees to collaborate in identifying and resolving issues related to the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations.

Speaking at the Jamshedpur Durga Puja Central Committee’s general meeting held at Sidhgora Town Hall, Mittal stressed the importance of proactive planning to ensure a smooth festival experience for all.

He mentioned that a joint meeting between the administration and zone-wise Durga Puja committees will be held to discuss and resolve specific area-based concerns before the festivities begin.

This, he noted, would help prevent any inconvenience to the devotees during the celebrations.

Mittal added, "The good thing is that we have ample time to address these issues and prepare thoroughly for the festival."

He urged all stakeholders to focus on identifying even the smallest problems and addressing them promptly to ensure that Durga Puja is celebrated with joy and harmony.

The general meeting saw the participation of representatives from 310 Durga Puja committees across the city, with Achintam Gupta, the committee’s president, presiding over the session.

Key Points from the Durga Puja Committee Meeting

During the meeting, Achintam Das Gupta, President of the Jamshedpur Durga Puja Central Committee, outlined the plans for this year’s celebrations.

He announced that, as in previous years, all Durga Puja committees will distribute clothes and food grains to five underprivileged families in their respective areas.

Gupta emphasized the importance of cooperation among all committees to ensure the festival’s success and highlighted the need to maintain coordination with the district administration to promptly resolve any issues.

He also addressed the concerns regarding the immersion of the Durga idols, stating that any uncertainties will be resolved in the upcoming zonal meetings.

Gupta assured that the religious sentiments surrounding the immersion process will be respected and no compromise will be made.

General Secretary Ashutosh Singh presented the annual report, and Vice President Diwakar Singh extended a vote of thanks.

The meeting was attended by several key officials, including City and Rural SP Rishabh Garg, Deputy Municipal Administrators Krishna Kumar and Ranjit Lohar, and various senior committee members such as Chandragupta Singh, Tapas Mitra, and Bhupendra Singh.

Police Ready to Assist at Every Step: SSP

Addressing the gathering, SSP Kishore Kaushal emphasized the significance of Durga Puja as a major event and the need for meticulous attention to detail.

He urged the Durga Puja committees to cooperate with the police and assured them that the police force would provide assistance at every step.

Kaushal pointed out several key issues and urged the committees to ensure that two members are present in the control rooms set up at large pandals with CCTV surveillance.

He also advised against allowing vendors to set up stalls near the pandals to prevent traffic congestion and ensure smooth pedestrian movement.

The SSP recommended that banners and posters displaying the contact numbers of police officers and committee members be placed at various locations in the pandal and fair premises.

He also encouraged the inclusion of women in the volunteer teams and suggested that committees ensure that all vehicles used during the immersion process have their documents and fitness checked.

Additionally, he highlighted the importance of having a generator operator ready to provide backup power in case of sudden outages and advised the use of separators in electrical wiring.

Tree Plantation Initiative by Neeraj Singh

In a noteworthy initiative, Neeraj Singh, Vice President of the Jamshedpur Durga Puja Central Committee, announced that each Durga Puja committee would receive 10 saplings this year.

Singh urged the committees to engage in tree plantation activities with their members during Navratri, keeping environmental conservation in mind.

The Central Committee praised Singh’s initiative, recognizing it as a positive step towards a greener Jamshedpur.
