Red Cross Society Launches 735th Eye Camp in Jamshedpur

Free eye care and blood donation drive unite community efforts

Red Cross Society’s 735th eye camp begins in Jamshedpur, offering free eye check-ups and surgeries to the community, while also promoting blood donation awareness.

JAMSHEDPUR – Free eye camp offering surgeries and lens implants kicks off at Ram Manohar Lohia Eye Hospital.

The Indian Red Cross Society, East Singhbhum branch, in collaboration with several local organizations, has launched its 735th eye camp in Jamshedpur, continuing its commitment to providing essential healthcare services to the community.

The eye camp, held at the Ram Manohar Lohia Eye Hospital near Bagbera Police Station, commenced with thorough eye examinations for patients.

Dr. B. P. Singh, along with his medical team, conducted screenings for 38 individuals, identifying 26 cases of cataracts.

"Our goal is to restore vision and improve the quality of life for those who might otherwise lack access to proper eye care," stated Dr. Singh.

The camp is set to perform surgeries and lens implants on Sunday, September 1st, for eligible patients at the hospital’s operation theater.

A team of skilled ophthalmologists, including Dr. Poonam Singh, Dr. Vivek Kedia, and Dr. Rashi Verma, will carry out the procedures.

Camp coordinator Santosh Dhoot, along with family members Chhitermal Dhoot and Arun Dhoot, were present at the inauguration.

Balmukund Goyal, chairman of the Ram Manohar Lohia Eye Hospital, welcomed the organizers and volunteers.

Key workers such as Rakesh Mishra, Ashish Kumar, Shyam Kumar, and Prakashbhanu Mahato contributed to the smooth operation of the camp.

Vijay Kumar Singh, Honorary Secretary of the Red Cross Society, East Singhbhum, is overseeing the entire initiative.

Blood Donation Awareness

In a parallel effort, the Red Cross Society and Jamshedpur Blood Center conducted a blood donation awareness program at the Rabia Technical Institute in Mango.

The program aimed to educate and motivate young trainees about the importance of blood donation.

Sanjay Chaudhary, General Manager of Jamshedpur Blood Center, addressed common misconceptions and highlighted the benefits of donating blood.

"Blood donation is the most precious gift a living person can give to humanity," emphasized Javed Akhtar Khan, Director of the institute, encouraging the students to participate.

Mukhtaar Ahmad from the Human Welfare Trust moderated the event, while Shyam Kumar from the Red Cross expressed gratitude to the participants.

Dedicated Blood Donors

The Red Cross Society also recognized several regular blood donors for their consistent contributions.

Vinod Kumar Singh, marking his 25th blood donation, inspired his son Nishant to make his first donation under his guidance.

Ankush Kumar completed his 18th Single Donor Platelet (SDP) donation, bringing his total contributions to 35, including regular blood donations and plasma.

Raju Kumar, another dedicated donor, gave his 28th SDP, totaling 45 donations when combined with his regular blood donations.

Ajay Kumar Singh made his 12th SDP donation, reaching a total of 37 contributions.

Prabhu Nath Singh, the Red Cross Society’s Component Donation In-charge, has personally donated blood over 70 times and continues to oversee these initiatives.

"We’re immensely proud of our donors who consistently step up to save lives," said a Red Cross representative, acknowledging the critical role these individuals play in supporting the community’s health needs.
