Residents of Burmamines rally against JUSCO for halting water and electricity supplies amidst a boundary wall dispute with Tata Company, seek intervention from local MLA Saryu Roy.
JAMSHEDPUR – Residents of the Burmamines S type Koyla Taal Basti staged a protest against JUSCO for cutting off electricity and water supply on Wednesday.
The protest was allegedly triggered by the construction of a boundary wall by Tata Company, which led to the main road of the settlement being closed off.
BJM leaders, upon receiving the call from the residents, visited the area to assess the situation.
They were told that the construction of the boundary wall obstructed traffic for the 95 houses located within the township.
An alternative route provided through Kerala School, Dunlop Maidan to Koyla Taal Basti, proved inconvenient as it was 3.5 km long, the basti residents said.
The disconnection of water and electricity by JUSCO came after the residents demolished the boundary wall, which further incensed them.
BJM leaders subsequently briefed MLA Saryu Roy about the issue.
Mr. Roy engaged with Tata Steel officials to discuss the matter.
He visited the township the following day to explore practical solutions for resolving the dispute between the company and the township.
