JAMSHEDPUR – Hundreds of women from Bhuiyandih, under the banner of Basti Bachao Sangharsh Samiti led by the Aam Aadmi Party, protested at the Deputy Commissioner’s office against the NGT notice.
The notice issued by the district administration to about 150 houses in Bhuiyandih has sparked a blame game between BJP and Congress.
Meanwhile, the residents see it as an election tactic and are demanding the immediate withdrawal of the notices.
The protesting women handed over a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, urging him to revoke the eviction notices.
The women expressed their anger, questioning how they could have received electricity, water, and road facilities if their homes were illegal.
They argued that if the homes were unauthorized, the administration should have stopped the construction 40 years ago.
The residents emphasized that they have been living there for four decades and are prepared to resist any attempts to evict them.
They demanded clarification on why legal amenities were provided if their homes are now being termed illegal.
The protesters warned of further intensified agitation if their demands are not met.
The issue has become a political flashpoint, with parties accusing each other of using it for electoral gain.
Residents remain determined to fight against what they see as a threat to their long-established homes.
