Shri Krishna Janmashtami Celebrated with Competitions at Jamshedpur Surya Mandir

Odisha Governor and ex-CM Raghubar Das graces the event; winners awarded for dance and costume contests.

The Shri Krishna Janmashtami festival at Jamshedpur’s Surya Mandir concluded with lively competitions on Monday.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Shri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations at Surya Mandir wrapped up with final competitions on Monday.

The three-day festival at the Surya Mandir in Sidhgora ended with a vibrant conclusion, featuring the finals of the "Bal Radha-Krishna Costume" and group dance contests.

Festival Highlights and Competitions

The finals were marked by fierce competition among participants, with 20 finalists in the costume contest and 8 groups in the dance competition.

Despite the heavy rain, the audience was present in large numbers, cheering on participants with applause and chants of "Jai Shri Krishna."

"The talent displayed by the young Radha-Krishna participants was truly captivating," said Bhupendra Singh, the president of the Surya Mandir Committee.

Participants in the dance competition presented performances that carried important social and environmental messages.

Presence of Dignitaries

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and current Odisha Governor, Raghubar Das, attended the event as the chief guest, expressing his Janmashtami greetings to the people of Jamshedpur and Odisha.

"Such events not only connect our youth to cultural values but also play a crucial role in preserving our heritage," Das remarked.

He also praised the Surya Mandir Committee for their consistent efforts in organizing the festival, which has become a significant cultural event in the region.

Winners and Awards

In the "Bal Radha-Krishna Costume" contest, Yuvansh Kumar secured first place, followed by Pinaki Khimani in second, and Soumya Singh in third.

They were awarded cash prizes of ₹5,000, ₹3,000, and ₹2,000, respectively, along with certificates.

The group dance competition saw BDS Dance Group take first place, with Harish & Group and Nikhil Dance Academy securing second and third positions.

These groups were rewarded with cash prizes of ₹10,000, ₹7,000, and ₹5,000, respectively, along with certificates.

"All the participants performed exceptionally well, and their dedication was evident in every performance," said Sonali Chatterjee, one of the judges.

Several dignitaries, including Chandra Gupta Singh and Bhupendra Singh, were present at the event, contributing to its success.
