JAMSHEDPUR – SDO Parul Singh has issued a directive that mandates the implementation of CCTV in critical establishments throughout Jamshedpur in order to enhance the city’s security and surveillance.
The decree is subject to Section 163 of the BNSS, which is equivalent to Section 144 of the CrPC.
CCTV cameras must be installed in locations that are significant throughout Jamshedpur.
Stringent penalties will be imposed for noncompliance with the directive.
The mandate encompasses a diverse array of establishments, such as jewelry shops, ATMs, and institutions.
The directive also encompasses hotels, restaurants, petrol pumps, and liquor stores.
The new regulations necessitate that multi-story apartments, transit stands, and auto stands adhere to them.
Paid parking areas, private lodgings, and hospitals are not exempt.
It is also mandatory for malls, medicine stores, and other critical locations to install CCTV systems.
The cameras that have been deployed must either be able to record or transmit live feeds to the cloud.
SDO Singh emphasized the necessity of cameras to monitor both the interior and exterior of establishments.
Particular consideration should be given to the placement of cameras in public spaces with elevated foot traffic.
Cameras should refrain from capturing sensitive areas that are frequently visited by women and children in order to respect privacy concerns.
The appropriate functionality of CCTV systems is the responsibility of institutional heads.
A minimum of 15 days must be allowed for the preservation of recorded footage or cloud storage.
Upon request from local police or station in-charges, establishments are required to promptly provide access to live feeds or footage.
The conformance period is 60 days, with a deadline of October 14 for the implementation of these measures.
