Sanatan Utsav Samiti Jamshedpur Demands Action for Safety of Schoolgirls

Committee urges District Education Superintendent to implement strict safety measures in school transportation.

On August 20, 2024, the Sanatan Utsav Samiti submitted a memorandum to the District Education Superintendent of Jamshedpur, protesting the inhumane behavior faced by schoolgirls in the city.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Sanatan Utsav Samiti has taken a firm stand against recent incidents involving school van drivers and the inhumane treatment of young girls.

In a memorandum submitted to the District Education Superintendent, the committee highlighted the city’s outrage over the recent cases involving a 3-year-old and an 8-year-old girl.

“These incidents have shocked the entire city, and immediate action is required to prevent such heinous acts in the future,” stated a representative of the Samiti.

The memorandum calls for the mandatory installation of GPS systems in all school autos, vans, and buses to ensure the safety and tracking of students.

The Samiti also demanded that drivers have a uniform dress code, and that their Aadhaar card, mobile number, and both permanent and current addresses be registered with the school management and visibly marked on the vehicles.

“All drivers should undergo a thorough police background check before being employed,” the representative added.

The committee emphasized that the responsibility for any incidents occurring between school and home should rest with the school management, who must ensure prompt reporting to both parents and authorities.

In addition, the Samiti insisted that private schools immediately restore bus services equipped with GPS and cameras.

“If these measures are not implemented promptly, we will be forced to initiate a phased agitation,” the Samiti warned.

The Sanatan Utsav Samiti’s demands come in response to growing concerns about the safety of schoolchildren, particularly young girls, in Jamshedpur.
