Protests Erupt in Bokaro Over Anand Marg Principal’s Self-Immolation Case
Anand Margis stage rally and protest at Bokaro DC office, demand justice for the deceased principal.
Following the self-immolation of Anand Marg School Principal, Anand Hitavadini, in Petarwar, Bokaro has witnessed ongoing protests as Anand Margis demand justice.
BOKARO – Protests erupted in Bokaro today as a large number of Anand Margis, carrying banners and posters, gathered outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office to demand justice for their deceased principal.
The protestors, including both men and women, marched from Naya Mod to the DC office, chanting slogans for justice.
The incident that sparked the protests occurred on August 12 in the Darid Panchayat area under Petarwar Police Station.
Anand Hitavadini, the principal of Anand Marg School, allegedly self-immolated in response to the demolition of the school’s boundary by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) without compensation.
The land in question, approximately 3 acres, was acquired for the Bharatmala project, with a compensation of ₹4.1 crore to be paid.
The school’s management claims that the NHAI began demolishing the boundary without paying the compensation, leading to the principal’s tragic act.
The protests in Bokaro have intensified since the incident, with a roadblock in Petarwar a few days ago and today’s rally and demonstration at the DC office.
Meanwhile, the district administration has denied the allegations, stating that the land dispute was between two parties and is currently under judicial review.
The compensation amount has been deposited in the treasury and will be disbursed to the rightful owner following the court’s decision.
Bokaro’s Chas SDO noted that the administration was not informed about the protest in advance but assured that police and administrative personnel were present to maintain law and order.
The ongoing protests have raised concerns about the handling of land disputes and the administration’s role in such sensitive matters.
