Demand for immediate resolution of water and electricity problems in Jamshedpur
The East Singhbhum District Congress Committee, led by District President Anand Bihari Dubey, staged a significant protest at the main office of Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (formerly Jusco) over issues related to water and electricity provision.
JAMSHEDPUR – The East Singhbhum District Congress Committee, led by District President Anand Bihari Dubey, staged a significant protest at the main office of Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (formerly Jusco) over issues related to water and electricity provision.
The protest, held at the office’s main gate, quickly caught the attention of Jusco officials, who invited Dubey for discussions at the General Manager’s office.
However, Dubey insisted on a public dialogue at the protest site.
Approximately half an hour later, GM R.K. Singh and other officials engaged with the protestors at the gate.
Dubey highlighted the ongoing problems with the Moharda Water Supply Scheme, managed by Jusco for the past seven years, stating that residents have been receiving dirty and foul-smelling water, unfit for drinking.
He emphasized that residents are forced to fetch water from distant areas due to the poor quality.
Dubey pointed out that despite collecting connection charges and water bills, the water supplied is not even suitable for animals.
Dubey demanded immediate improvements in water quality and the installation of a proper drainage system.
He also called for the provision of electricity in areas like Birsa Nagar, Baridih Basti, Bagunnagar, and Bagunhatu, where Jusco currently does not supply electricity.
Additionally, Dubey urged for increased water tanker distribution in the panchayat areas of Bagbera, Harharguttu, Kitadih, and Kharsmahal to ensure water availability.
GM R.K. Singh agreed to increase the number of water tankers and stated that discussions regarding electricity provision in non-Jusco areas would be taken up with higher authorities.
Dubey reiterated that Tata Steel is responsible for providing civic amenities under the lease agreement and handed over a demand letter to GM Singh.
The protest, which lasted for approximately 1.5 hours, concluded with a vote of thanks from Tatanagar Mandal President Munna Mishra.
The protest saw significant participation from Congress members, who carried flags and chanted slogans demanding the provision of essential civic amenities by Tata Steel.
Participants included District President Anand Bihari Dubey, State Secretary Rakesh Tiwari, Riyazuddin Khan, Samanta Kumar, District Vice President Shafi Ahmed Khan, Brajendra Tiwari, Gurdeep Singh, Arun Kumar Singh, Ramdas Chaudhary, Munna Mishra, Atul Gupta and several other Congress members.
