JRD Tata’s 120th Birth Anniversary Celebrated with Aero Show in Jamshedpur
Tata Steel hosts model aircraft exhibition and awards ceremony at Gopal Maidan
Jamshedpur’s skies come alive as Tata Steel commemorates the 120th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna JRD Tata with a spectacular aero modelling exhibition and community events.
JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel marks JRD Tata’s 120th birth anniversary with an aero modelling show at Gopal Maidan, featuring a diverse array of model aircraft and community engagement activities.
The event showcased 13 model planes, ranging from diesel and battery-powered engines to glow engines, attracting over 500 school students and local residents.

Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President of Corporate Services at Tata Steel, attended the celebration alongside Atrayee Sanyal, VP of Human Resource Management, and Ravi Radhakrishnan, Chief of Aviation Services.
The Aero Modelling Clubs of Jamshedpur and Kolkata, along with NCC cadets, displayed their craftsmanship through static models, control line aircraft, and remote-controlled planes.
“This event not only honors JRD Tata’s legacy but also inspires the next generation of aviation enthusiasts,” remarked a local educator attending the show.

The celebration included a helicopter ride for quiz competition winners and an awards ceremony for a media photo caption contest, emphasizing community involvement.
Static displays featured models of renowned aircraft such as the SU-30 MKI and C-130J, while control line models like the PEACE MAKER and GOLDEN ARROW demonstrated various engine types.
The Centre for Excellence (CFE) and Corporate Communication department of Tata Steel organized the event, highlighting the company’s commitment to education and community engagement.
This aero show serves as a fitting tribute to JRD Tata, known for his contributions to Indian aviation and industry, inspiring young minds to reach for the skies.
