Jamshedpur Administration Unveils Comprehensive Prison Reform and Excise Overhaul Plan

District Magistrate Spearheads Initiative to Enhance Jail Security and Boost Prisoner Rehabilitation

A sweeping reform plan for prisons and the Excise Department has been unveiled by Jamshedpur district officials, aiming to improve security and foster inmate rehabilitation.

JAMSHEDPUR – Officials from Jamshedpur’s district administration have unveiled a comprehensive plan and implemented measures to improve prisoner care, strengthen jail security, and expedite excise procedures.

District Magistrate Ananya Mittal oversaw a high-level assessment meeting when this ambitious proposal was unveiled.

Attending officials examined the security protocols at the sub-jails of Ghaghidih, Sakchi, and Ghatsila.

The gathering also brought attention to the growing need for infrastructure upgrades in different prisons.

To solve the issue of overcrowding, the district authorities have been charged with locating land for the construction of a new prison.

Plans are in place to connect Ghaghidih jail to a recently constructed water tower in order to address the jail’s water shortage.

Sources said that the goal of a solar power system installation proposal is to offer a long-term fix for electrical issues.

To increase security, the administration ordered sophisticated 4G and 5G jammers to be installed.

As part of a thorough security audit, officials will perform routine surprise inspections.

According to sources the programs for developing skills, including as painting instruction, will be implemented to support the rehabilitation of prisoners.

It has been suggested that Ghatsila Jail receive funding for an ambulance service through CSR efforts.

Additionally, orders were sent to the Excise Department to step up their investigations into shops, bars, and booze distributors.

One significant choice is the procurement of printed goods and stationery for government offices produced by prisoners.

Important representatives from several departments attended the meeting, which emphasized teamwork.
