RANCHI – The Jharkhand High Court has halted coercive actions against NDA candidate Saryu Roy in a case involving health department documents.
The single bench of Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi delivered this significant ruling.
Meanwhile, the court has directed the state government to submit its response within four weeks.
According to senior advocate Diwakar Upadhyay, an FIR was initially filed against unknown persons at Doranda Police Station in 2022.
The case centered around allegedly missing confidential health department documents that surfaced in media outlets.
However, police later petitioned the court to include Saryu Roy’s name in the investigation.
On the other hand, law enforcement had previously admitted to inadvertently omitting Roy’s name from the initial filing.
Moreover, a knowledgeable source indicated that the case didn’t qualify under the Official Secrets Act.
In response to the court’s decision, Roy expressed satisfaction with the stay order.
Furthermore, he claimed the Health Minister had attempted to orchestrate his arrest during election season.
A reliable source revealed that Roy had exposed alleged corruption in COVID-19 incentive payments.
Additionally, the Health Minister had reportedly included his own name in the incentive payment list.
