Banna Gupta slams Union Budget as disappointing, claims it neglects middle class and key sectors

State Health Minister Banna Gupta expresses concern over the Union Budget’s impact on various segments of society, including youth and farmers.

JAMSHEDPUR – Banna Gupta, the state minister of health and food supply, has harshly criticized and called the recently presented Union Budget underwhelming and has said that it would not serve the interests of the common man.

Mr. Gupta claimed that in contrast to hopes of relief following recent electoral victory, the federal government was taxing the middle class excessively.

The minister said that it looks like the middle class is bearing more of the cost of elections.

He denounced the youth internship program, saying it was insufficient as a replacement for legitimate job prospects.

Mr. Gupta brought out the apparent undervaluation of women and farmers in the budgetary allocations.

The minister said that the budget’s provisions had let down laborers and workers.

In particular, he charged that the administration was taking concepts from the Congress party’s manifesto, namely in relation to job promises.

Notwithstanding prior pandemic experiences, Mr. Gupta expressed surprise at the budget’s diminished emphasis on healthcare.

The minister emphasized how Jharkhand is treated differently than other states, such as Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, in his opinion.

"This budget is merely an eyewash, failing to address the real needs of the people," said Mr. Gupta.
