A meeting between Tata Motors union leaders and top management resulted in the announcement of two new education schemes aimed at supporting the education of employees’ children.
JAMSHEDPUR – A significant meeting between union leaders and top management of Tata Motors was held at the General Office, leading to the announcement of two new education schemes for employees’ children.
Union President Gurmeet Singh Tota and General Secretary R.K. Singh revealed that the union had long been advocating for better educational support for employees’ children and to encourage the education of daughters.
The management has now introduced two schemes: Vidyadaan and Utkarsh.
Under the Vidyadaan scheme, all permanent employees of Tata Motors can avail of an education loan of up to ₹7.5 lakh from the State Bank of India (SBI) on easy terms for their children’s higher education.
While the general interest rate on education loans from SBI is 11%, Tata Motors employees will receive a 1% discount.
Additionally, Tata Motors will subsidize 50% of the interest for sons, bringing the effective interest rate down to 5%.
For daughters, the subsidy will be 70%, reducing the interest rate to just 3%.
The loan tenure can extend up to 15 years, and this benefit is available to all the employee’s children.
The Utkarsh scheme aims to promote female education by offering an incentive of ₹25,000 each to daughters of employees who pass their 10th and 12th grades with at least 60% marks.
R.K. Singh expressed gratitude to the management for implementing these unprecedented educational initiatives, which will significantly enhance the lives and education of workers’ children.
He thanked Tata Motors MD Girish Wagh, VP Vishal Badshah, CHRO Sitaram Kandi, CVBU HR Head Vishwaroop Mukherjee, Plant Head Ravindra Kulkarni, HR Head Mohan Ganta, and ER Head Soumik Roy.
