JAMSHEDPUR – Residents from East Ghorabandha Panchayat area took their grievances to the streets, demonstrating at the Executive Engineer’s office in Karandih.

The protest, which occurred on Tuesday, centered around arbitrary electricity billing practices affecting the community.

MLA Mangal Kalindi participated in the demonstration, lending support to the residents’ cause.

During the protest, MLA Kalindi engaged in discussions with both the Executive Engineer and affected consumers.

He emphasized the critical need for accurate meter readings to ensure fair and consistent billing practices.

Consumers voiced their frustrations over irregular visits by meter readers, leading to significant discrepancies in billing.

Some residents reported receiving inflated bills, while others found themselves undercharged due to the inconsistent readings.

In response to the concerns raised, the Executive Engineer assured the protesters of corrective measures.

The official pledged to rectify erroneous bills and implement a system to ensure timely and accurate meter readings in the future.

MLA Kalindi instructed the Engineer to take disciplinary action against negligent meter readers.

The legislator also requested regular updates on the corrective actions being implemented to address the billing issues.
