Court Issues Notice to Parsudih Police In-Charge Over Witness Absence in Murder Case

Police in-charge to explain negligence in presenting witnesses in court.

The Additional District Judge-2, Aabhas Verma, has sent a notice to the Parsudih police station in-charge asking for an explanation about the murder of Prafull Chandra Mahato and the attempted murder of his son.

JAMSHEDPUR – The court has made this decision because the police officer responsible for making sure witnesses are present in court, as required by the Jharkhand High Court, was reported to have been negligent.

The incident took place on April 20, 2022 and it involved Lalbabu Sardar from Bhumij Tola. Unfortunately, he got into a heated argument with Prafull Chandra Mahato and ended up causing harm to his son during a dispute over land.

Mahato, who is employed as a contractor for Tata Motors, had purchased the land and built a house where the attack occurred.

None of the ten witnesses listed in the case, including Sanjay Kumar Mahato, Shankar Karmakar, Raju Sardar, Sanatan Bhumij, Tapan Sardar, Polo Sardar, Parvati Bhumij, Allen Hembram, Vijay Bhumij, and Laxmi Sardar, have appeared in court to provide their testimony.

Judge Aabhas Verma has requested the police in-charge to personally appear in court by July 22nd and provide an explanation as to why there were no witnesses present for ST number 410/2022 and case number 84/2022 at Parsudih police station.

The court representative expressed their concern about the absence of important witnesses, highlighting how it has affected the progress of the legal proceedings. The importance of holding individuals accountable to ensure that justice is served was emphasized by them.

The court notice emphasizes the crucial role that witness testimony plays in legal proceedings and aims to expedite the resolution of the case.
