Jamshedpur Ramps Up Dengue Prevention Efforts

DM Ananya Mittal Calls for Strict Measures and Public Awareness

Health department instructed to enhance testing capabilities and launch school-based campaign.

JAMSHEDPUR – The meeting on dengue prevention was led by District Magistrate Ananya Mittal at the Collectorate Auditorium. During the meeting, she stressed the importance of increased vigilance and community involvement.

"To effectively control dengue, it is important to prevent the accumulation of water." "We believe that it is important for every resident to take responsibility," Mittal stated.

Key Directives:

  • Hospitals to reserve two beds for dengue patients

  • Adequate supply of test kits to be maintained

  • Awareness campaign to be conducted in schools

  • Fines for households with dengue larvae: Rs. 500, increasing for repeated violations

Prevention Measures:

  • Anti-larva spraying to be conducted intensively

  • Residents advised to avoid water accumulation and maintain cleanliness

  • Education department to promote full-body clothing and mosquito net use

Health Department Actions:

  • QRTs to be formed

  • Helpline numbers to be issued

  • Contact tracing teams to be identified

  • Regular checks for dengue larvae in hotspots

"Non-compliance with testing rates or bed reservations will result in legal action," Mittal warned.

The meeting was attended by key officials including DDC Manish Kumar, Civil Surgeon Dr. Jujhar Majhi, and representatives from TMH and private medical institutions.

This comprehensive approach underscores Jamshedpur’s commitment to preventing a dengue outbreak through coordinated efforts and public awareness.
