Jamshedpur FC Releases Swiss Winger Alen Stevanovic

33-year-old departs after disappointing stint marred by fitness issues

Club expected to announce new foreign signing soon

JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur Football Club (JFC) has parted ways with Swiss winger Alen Stevanovic, ending the 33-year-old’s brief and underwhelming tenure with the team.

Key points:

– Stevanovic joined JFC last year

– Played only 15 matches due to persistent fitness problems

– Was appointed captain despite limited playing time

– Team performance under his leadership was described as "highly disappointing"

"Stevanovic’s departure marks the end of a challenging period for the club," a JFC source stated. "We’re looking to move in a new direction with our foreign player recruitment."

The partnership between Stevanovic and former coach Scott Cooper failed to yield positive results last season, contributing to the decision to release the Swiss player.

JFC management is expected to announce a new foreign signing as early as Tuesday to bolster the squad for the upcoming season.

"We’re in advanced talks with potential replacements," the source added. "The new signing will hopefully provide the spark our attack needs."

This move signals JFC’s intent to revamp their squad and improve upon last season’s disappointing performance in the Indian Super League.

Fans and local football analysts have largely supported the decision, recognizing the need for change after a lackluster campaign.

The club’s management faces pressure to make a impactful signing that can help JFC compete at the top level of Indian football.
